What is Segasist?
A technical introduction to the Segasist Segmentation Assistant.
Segasist Technologies has developed Segasist, a software platform
that provides more accurate contouring of organs and tumors than
any current competitive method. In particular, Segasist is especially
effective for more challenging image types and body parts such as
head and neck, brain, lung and liver.
Segasist is a largely automated system for volumetric analysis;
it provides a new approach to volumetric calculations. Through use
and “training”, Segasist can improve automated analysis
and contouring decision-making capabilities. The use of Segasist
in a clinical setting provides the opportunity for increased accuracy
and, hence, time saving. [Download

Observer-Oriented Segmentation
A discussion on how Segasist manages adjustments based on user
feedback.
Segasist™ Segmentation Assistant is a solution that can provide
exceptional accuracy and consistency for precise tracking or tracing
of organs and tumor volumes. Segasist is able to perform contouring
and volumetric calculations using data gathered from its powerful
segmentation engine. Segmentation, or contouring, of lesions and
organs can be a time-consuming step in disease diagnosis, treatment
planning and therapy, with immediate impact on the accuracy of these
processes in clinical practice. The exact determination of the boundaries
(contour) of lesions and organs is, therefore, of direct benefit
to the quality of patient care. Precise contouring allows for precise
measurement and planning, enables adaptive re-planning, and shortens
the time clinical experts invest to perform these tasks.

Discussion Papers
Segasist
End-User Research Study - A discussion of the market need for
Segasist, and its value for clinical users and procurers of advanced
visualization tools.
In 2009, Segasist Technologies Inc. undertook a proprietary investigation
to understand how segmentation software like Segasist™ Segmentation
Assistant would provide value for clinical users and procurers of
advanced visualization tools. In addition, Segasist was looking
for validation that current development goals for our Segasist software
were on target. We submit that the customer insights shared in this
discussion paper are not new; rather they reiterate the importance
we place on listening to the customer.
The results of this investigation validate a number of Segasist
Technologies’ assumptions regarding the need for accurate
auto-segmentation and volumetric analysis productivity tools in
the clinical setting. This paper is intended to highlight the real-world
concerns expressed by respondents and showcases the features and
benefits of Segasist software that currently meet user needs.

Internal Validation
On July 27, 2010, Segasist Technologies finalized
the internal validation of its PMR-R software. The purpose of
this internal validation was to verify the performance of Segasist
PMR-R for segmenting the prostate gland in T2W MR images captured
with and without endorectal coils. The validation had to find answers
for the following questions:
-
Can Segasist PMR-R segment prostate MR images with high accuracy?
-
Can Segasist PMR-R calculate the prostate volume with high
accuracy?
-
Can Segasist PMR-R reduce the time required to perform volume
measurements?
In order to answer these questions, Segasist Technologies conducted
extensive validation of the software using a large database of close
to 300 patient volume sets. The results are published in a report.
