Segasist Technologies Launches Segasist™ P-AC 1.0 for Auto-Contouring
of Prostate Images
April 14, 2011 (Toronto, ON) - Segasist Technologies,
a Canadian software company developing automated image contouring
methods for biomedical applications announced today the release
of its auto-contouring software Segasist™ P-AC 1.0 for prostate
images.
Segasist P-AC 1.0 is a software tool developed
for the purpose of segmenting MR, CT and Ultrasound images of the
prostate for research purposes. The software is the natural evolution
of the previously released Segasist
PMR-R with more functionalities and an improved segmentation
engine. Segasist P-AC 1.0, clinically
validated, provides a tool for accurately and quickly processing
prostate images (CT/MR/US), including performing volumetric calculations,
a function which, up until now, was a missing component in prostate
cancer research.
Manual delineation or contouring of the prostate gland in CT,
MR and Ultrasound images can be performed for different purposes
and constitutes a tedious and time-consuming task. Segasist P-AC
1.0 is the first commercial software of its kind providing a complete
solution for segmentation and volumetric measurements of the prostate
gland in any modality. The software provides integrated editing
tools built around its unique segmentation engine, which makes the
software most useful and convenient: the software can be trained,
resulting in increased flexibility and efficiency.
“The P-AC 1.0 software has been clinically validated,”
says Hamid Tizhoosh, CEO of Segasist Technologies. “Clinicians
have confirmed how useful the Segasist software is in practice.
We are currently in the process of submitting our 510(k) application
to the FDA. Meanwhile, we will continue to make the software available
to researchers.”
About Segasist Technologies
Segasist Technologies is a software company based in Toronto,
Ontario, Canada, that is focused on developing volumetric analysis
productivity tools for use with advanced visualization modalities
including MR, Ultrasound, and CT. The company's premiere product
- Segasist Segmentation Assistant software - is initially thought
to be feasible for use in improving accuracy in delineating healthy
versus unhealthy tissue in radiation planning and radiology. Segasist
is a flexible solution; it can be applied to a multitude of medical
image types, integrated into existing commercial visualization and
planning software, or used as a plug-in productivity tool in a clinical
setting.
